Online Learning during School Closure

03-February-21

Since our return to learning in January, our teachers and students have been engaging in a blend of live classes, recorded classes and Teams Assignments. The level of engagement by students has been really positive. The support of our SNA has been invaluable in keeping students motivated and logging in.

All of our students have Office 365 accounts and are using Teams for every subject. All of the classwork is available in the One Notes and assignments are set in the Teams assignment for students to return for feedback.

Students are meeting their Class Teachers in the morning before classes to check in. Our Care Team have been monitoring everyone to make sure we all keep in touch.

The Year Heads are running various Wellbeing related activities to keep everyone's spirits up. Second Years are getting in 10,000 steps a day. The Transition Years are making pizza, recording 21 days of gratitude, hosting their families for Come Dine with Me, taking sunrise selfies and holding a Bake Off. Fifth Years are doing a Cabinteely Eye on Nature Photographic style competition.

We were delighted to be presented with ten refurbished laptops from a local branch of the Social Democrats, thanks to parent Orli Degani on the Parents Association. Our thanks also to Anna Whelan, Chair of our Parents Association for organising funding for 20 laptops. We have been able to offer the use of laptops to students who are struggling to access the work on their phones.
