The mentor system creates an academic dialogue between teachers and students.
There are five meetings per year. Each teacher meets with two sixth-year students to discuss and review progress and reports, set targets, discuss study techniques, and set specific challenges (S.M.A.R.T.).
There are also discussions regarding the progress of assignments (including practical assignments). Ggeneral progress and well-being is also monitored.
Cabinteely Community School also operates a "buddy system" between 6th yrs and 1st yrs.
