Cabinteely Community School are one of the first schools to start playing Touch in South Dublin with a cohort of around 12- 18 boys every Monday after school ranging from 1st through to 6th year boys playing together and having fun.
Touch Rugby is a non-contact form of Rugby that can be played by boys and girls together. It is one of the quickest growing sports in Ireland and Europe having originated in Australia and New Zealand. Men and women from Ireland are now competing in international tournaments and as a result more schools are starting to enjoy playing what is a very fast, skilful and tactical game that incorporates lots of fitness and above all fun and social times.
Touch has also been introduced within the HFF 1st year sports program for boys and girls. In the future Cabinteely Community School has the potential to have both single gender teams and mixed teams playing within school and against others schools within the region as the sport grows.
