We opened our first ASD class in September 2021. The Merici Centre currently has three classes of six students each.
The centre has a co-ordinator/assistant principal post holder and a range of subject teachers. We also have six SNAs, two per class. This allows teachers and SNAs to work intensively with our students to address their specific needs, meet their educational requirements and help them to reach their full potential.
We offer the Level 2 Learning Programme and Junior Cycle Programme to students of our centre. As part of this, we offer exciting short courses in areas such as; Digital Media Learning and Coding. Students also undertake subjects such as Horticulture, Home Economics, Art and Life Skills.
In Cabinteely Community School, inclusion is very important to us. Students in Merici are dual enrolled in the mainstream school and have the opportunity to move between the Merici classrooms and mainstream classrooms where appropriate.
