Green Schools
More

The work of Green Schools has been incorporated into two TY classes called Sustainable Development Goals. Our Transitions Year students learn all about the environment, wildlife and human actions that can promote a healthy life and protect our beautiful planet! We work together to find eco-friendly solutions and to inform our community about them.

Every 2 years we apply for and have been successful in achieving our Green Schools flags. The most recent being in “Biodiversity”. We are currently working on a flag for “Global Citizenship Litter & Waste”.

At CCS we take the role of Climate Change in our lives very seriously and have appointed a Sustainability Officer. We have also created a Sustainability Policy for our school which will be reviewed annually.

Under Green Schools we have created Wildflower areas in our school, planted native trees, created a vegetable, fruit & herb garden complete with chickens. These are maintained by our students in the Horticulture class.

We have a large composting area and even have a wormery full of worms to help us get more.
